They 5 day class has been learning about, reading about, drawing and painting trees. They extended their learning in the Art Studio this week by making their own paper. They learned that paper is made from tree fibers, and we used our class' scratch paper to create paper pulp. While we were blending the paper and water, some kids noticed that it was a lot like making a smoothie! All 5 day students and a few interested 2 and 3 day students had a chance to create a piece of handmade paper. They enjoyed the pouring and sponging process, and were interested to see how the color of the paper lightened after a night on the drying rack.
