We took advantage of a donation of shoe boxes to create rooms. The artists were inspired by patterned papers, magazine images, and building furniture with cardboard, and each other's creations.. Many of the rooms and houses already have toy residents ready to move in when they get home!
"I'm making something that Allie can jump on." - V.
"I'm making a jumpy couch. The couch is next to the bed." - F.
"It's a house. One of my ponies lives there. This is a bed and this is a bed. These two are tables. These two are bunks. L. helped me with some of this stuff. I made pictures with Sharpie markers." - L
"So this is one of my animal's houses. It has only one bed, so only one animal can stay there. These are the stairs up to the bed. This is the chair where you can watch tv. This is also the couch and the bean bag chair. This is my plant. This is my dog bowl. This is the kitchen. Right here is the roof. Right here is the bathroom. Here is the sink, this is the potty, this is the shower, this is the bath. The window has a little spot where you can play. -C.
"We're making new colors. We need green and white to make a new green. You need dark blue and light blue, then you dip your paint brush into the light blue and mix it into the dark blue and mix it again. If you keep doing it, it mixes with the green. You need white and green on the side like I said. Now I'm going to try this color. In alot of minutes you stop mixing it and try all your colors." - L
"This is my mom and I'm in her tummy. This is her bun and her carrot sandwich. My dad is watching the fireworks. The blue part is the tornado. This is my mud puddle and the bunny hole. The bunnies are watching the fireworks." - C
We had a great first week of creating in the Art Studio! Many kids chose to make an easel painting. We also made eclipse drawings, designs with colored tape, liquid watercolor paintings, chalk pastel drawings, and started working on box rooms. Looking forward to an awesome year!
