We tried to summon cooler fall weather by bringing leaves in and painting them with shimmering metallic acrylic paint. The artists carefully decorated their leaves, and our handmade paper seemed like the perfect frame for the finished products.

"3 dogs and the owner. All 3 dogs got a treat. The red is under the floor. This is a shooting star." -O.
They 5 day class has been learning about, reading about, drawing and painting trees. They extended their learning in the Art Studio this week by making their own paper. They learned that paper is made from tree fibers, and we used our class' scratch paper to create paper pulp. While we were blending the paper and water, some kids noticed that it was a lot like making a smoothie! All 5 day students and a few interested 2 and 3 day students had a chance to create a piece of handmade paper. They enjoyed the pouring and sponging process, and were interested to see how the color of the paper lightened after a night on the drying rack. "This is my house, this is Cora's house, this is Sam's house, this is somebody else's house. I don't know them. These are my neighbors, from down the hill where I live." - E.
"These are race balls. There are lots of colored balls and they bounce and they bounce and they bounce and cut the finish line. The green balls bounce and bump and cut the finish line." - C.
