Almost every afternoon, we incorporate some kind of healthy movement. We talk about the importance of rest and getting stronger in our bodies, minds and hearts. One physical practice we’ve been enjoying is running. We are training for our preschool marathon, which is a non-competitive group run to the end of Northgate and back in December. Our practice runs are around the school, usually accompanied by “Eye of the Tiger.” A few weeks ago, we were introduced to a caterpillar who was just about to molt into his chrysalis. It was a pretty late season caterpillar, who got straight to work right after we found him. On Monday, he emerged as a beautiful butterfly and we named him “Momma Buttercup.” We knew he was a boy because he had two black spots on his hind wings. We kept him warm during this chilly week, leaving sugar water in his habitat until the weather warmed up. We wished him well on his journey south.
