In the spirit of the spooky month of October, each preschooler made a multimedia monster. First we used watercolors to paint monster bodies, then we glued on googly eyes. The next day we added fur, horns, tails and other details with oil pastels. Coming back to a piece of artwork twice gives students the chance to evaluate how they can make their artwork better and more interesting, and using more than one media allows for experimentation with how art media work together. Some students gave their monsters names and stories, but all of the monsters had lots of personality!
