Fall 2017
The first week of school brought new experiences, new routines and most importantly, new friends! It is amazing to witness the development and growth of old and new friendships. Past relationships offer a sense of belonging and community, while new friends bring new interests, fresh perspectives and excitement! In our class, we have the unique experience of having three sets of siblings! Meet: Never fear! You don't have to have a sibling to feel at home in our room: Schedule of the day: 9 am Greeting and wash hands Choose a play area, art room or story on the carpet 9:15-9:30 Circle time (Story & discussion of the day) 9:30-10:15 Choice (Play areas, art in room, art room or snack) 10:15-11 Music* (Rotating small music groups with Marit or all group singalong) 11:05 Clean up and short circle 11:15-12:15 Outdoor play 12:15 Lunch 12:45 Closing circle *All children go to music daily, most groups are 15 minutes. Opposite music time is free play or choice time. This is a loose 'structure of the day'. We are super flexible, one of our main goals is to provide an inspiring environment and allow each child to dive deeply into their own exploration with the materials. One of my favorite observations from the first week is noticing how two play set ups (in Reggio language we describe these as 'invitations to play') evolve into a new experience. I'm excited to see what the year will bring!
